Prepared to cater the needs of students of geography and to meet the requirements of domestic and international tourists, the present book is a modest attempt to present the physical personality of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and to explain its socio-cultural and economic milieu. Based on the latest literature and available data, the work has been supplemented with the primary information gathered by the author during his stay in the state for nearly a decade.

The book presents a detailed systematic account of the major geographical aspects of Jammu and Kashmir, with focus on structure, relief, climate, natural vegetation, soils, mineral resources, ethnic composition, population, agriculture, industries, tourism, urbanization, transport and trade.
