Description
Baharul Islam Laskar pursued graduation from Gauhati University, post-graduation from Aligarh Muslim University, and research from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is presently serving as Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM). He is also the founding HoD of the Department of Sociology & Social Work and has acted as Dean, School of Social Sciences & Humanities. He has around 25 years of experience in the field of research, teaching and training. He has worked with many institutes in various capacities, including Family Planning Association of India, Mumbai; Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Bombay; National Institute of Communicable Diseases, New Delhi; NE Region Socio-Eco-Cultural and Educational Development Society; North Eastern Police Academy, GoI; Central IT College, Dispur; Law Research Institute, Gauhati High Court (GoA); and Regional College of Higher Education, Guwahati before joining the USTM. His area of interest includes sociology of health, childhood, NE India, environment, theories, methodology, marginalized communities, science & technology, etc. He has published many research papers in national and international journals and in edited books.
