In the past decade or so, the international geopolitical scenario has altered dramatically. The geopolitical regions of the Indian Ocean Realm are also passing through a phase of rapid transition. Their morphological, social and functional characteristics have improved significantly and are likely to improve further. Permissible knowledge about our geopolitical neighbourhood is essential at a time when intrinsic and relative geographical and political locations are assuming ever-changing meaning and importance.
The present study is one of the few attempts at the understanding of the Indian geopolitical conditions and problems. The author has taken a holistic view of the totality of issues affecting India’s maritime interests and put them together in this book.
It is the first study of its type and is expected to be of great educative value.
