India and SAARC: Critical Issues and Challenges

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has boldly stroked new hope for the future of SAARC. Neighbourhood-First policy; an informal SAARC summit during his swearing in ceremony; SAARC satellite, etc. have been the instances of his commitment for this immediate neighbourhood. During COVID-19 Period, India under the leadership of PM Modi has depicted that the SAARC spirit should be sustained and the organisational platform can be used to foster regional cooperation. This book is attempts to inquire into various aspects of regional cooperation in South Asia with the objective of gaining a meaningful understanding of SAARC as a phenomenon and the book examines India’s approach to SAARC since its inception manifesting in its perception and attitude towards SAARC.
