Description
This, the 19th edition of author?s Elementar buch der Sanskrit, is a welcome improved version of the 18th edition 1995. It also takes into consideration some of the suggestions of J.W. de Jong), the only review of the 18th edition that has come to his knowledge. It retains the admirable qualities of the original, which have made it probably the most widely used Sanskrit primer throughout Europe and Asia. Its seventeen previous editions have distilled the wisdom and expertise of many generations of teachersnot only author, but also Kielhorn, Pischel, Geldner, and Schlerath have all helped to shape its happy combination of clear comprehensive explanations and wellchosen authentic illustrative sentences and texts.
