Having lived in Burma for almost forty years, the author’s realization of their own ignorance prompted them to write a concise history. The author aims to offer a comprehensible account of the country’s history, emphasizing the intricate struggles between different ethnic groups like the Burmese, Shans, and Talaings. This triangular contest spans over a thousand years and resembles a combined history of France, England, and Scotland. The author acknowledges various sources that contributed to their understanding.
