The monuments and antiquities described, are those of Ashoka and sculpture of the central India school; the Graeco Buddhist of Gandhara; Mathura Sculptures the Kushan dynasty; South Indian art of Amravati; the golden age of the Gupta dynasty; Buddhist cave temples. The last two chapters note the Buddhist art of Ceylon and Java. There are 39 plates, and 1 ground plan, in this book which was first published in 1936, and translated from Dutch by A.W. Barvrun.
