This book contain information about Brahmanism and Hinduism, based on the Veda and other sacred books of the Hindus. Compare these systems with Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, and Muhammadanism, and draw attention to points where they can be compared or contrasted with Christianity. The author has been studying Indian sacred literature for over forty years and has traveled extensively in India. The three words Vedism, Brahmanism, and Hinduism will be used to express the three principal stages in the development of the complicated system. Vedism was the earliest form of the religion of the Indian branch of the great Aryan family, Brahmanism grew out of Vedism, and Hinduism grew out of Brahmanism. Hinduism is the worship of many divine personalities and incarnations, distinct from Brahmanism, which was more of a philosophy than a religion.
