Description
Due to the very old age and scarcity of this book, some pages are missing and may be hard to read due to the blurring of the original text. The Gazetteer of the Naga Hills district serves as a supplementary resource to Mr. A. W. Davis, C.S.’s ongoing work on individual monographs focusing on various Naga tribes. Similarly, Mr. Hodson is preparing monographs on the Manipuris and the hill tribes under their authority, which will contain additional fascinating information that could have otherwise been included in this Gazetteer. Notably, this Gazetteer does not include a directory section since, apart from the headquarters stations, there are no towns or locations significant enough to warrant separate descriptions. Credit is given to Lieutenant-Colonel Maxwell, C.S.L., for reviewing the Gazetteer of Manipur, and Mr. Davis and Mr. Reid for providing valuable feedback on the Gazetteer of the Naga Hills. This Gazetteer comprehensively covers topics such as physical features, history, population, agriculture, forests, trade, and administration.
