Assam District Gazetteers: Kamrup

Due to the very old age and scarcity of this book, some pages are missing and may be hard to read due to the blurring of the original text. This Gazetteer offers a comprehensive overview of Kamrup (Kamrup Rural) district in Assam. To those unacquainted with the region, the absence of a directory might seem unusual. However, this is because the district primarily consists of two towns, Gaulhiati and Barpeta, which have already been thoroughly described. Given that many villages share similar characteristics, providing detailed descriptions for each would not be warranted. Nevertheless, the Gazetteer does include the names of all significant villages, whether they serve as trade centers or specialize in specific industries.
