This is an EnglishKonkani Pronouncing Pocket Dictionary which means the entries are English words, followed by an English pronunciation, the word type (verb, noun, etc.) and then the Konkani equivalent. There is not a “reverse” section of KonkaniEnglish. There is no pronunciation key. There are errors in the English pronunciations given owing to a lack of delineation between long and short vowels and odd vowel transliterations. Even conceding that the English rendered is the Queen’s English and not AmericanEnglish, this reference book is a disservice to Konkani speakers who need/want to know how to pronounce an English word and of no use at all to an English speaker. The book is the product of extensive study and research of this language which provides a useful insight in acquiring this language. The book is very useful for learner, student and teacher.
