Efficiency and Working of Regional Rural Bank in India

The underpinning of regional rural banks can be seen as a unique experiment as well as experience in improving the efficacy of rural credit delivery mechanism keeping in view the local peculiarities. Given the multi agency share holding and various restructuring strategies of the banks introduced from time to time, the rural banks are under severe pressure to improve their base with a view to manage competitiveness. Hence, it is necessary that the functioning of rural banks be analyzed separately than the RRBs as a whole so that it helps in policy formulation.
