WHITHER INDIAN PSYCHOLOGY

This book critically examines the development of psychology discipline in India over the last century. Six chapters in the book contemplate how ancient and modern psychology will be assimilated in coming decades. The larger debate is about rendering discipline more socially viable and relevant for nation-building. We need to develop psychological knowledge which is relevant for twenty-first century India, which can deal with the problems of social unrest, war, depression and suffering, and can thrive on human strength and positive transformation. Such a psychology discipline hopefully will have potential to become a universal science.
