Administrative reform in most western democracies over the past couple of decades has been characterized by bringing in marked-based concepts of public-service delivery. Jon Pierre held a chair in Politics at the University of Strathclyde 1996–1998. His recent work includes Bureaucracy in the Modern State: he is current co-editor of Governance: An International Journal of Policy and Administration.
