Politician Civil Servant Relationship and Public Administration in India

PoliticianCivil Servant relationship has been a core area in public administration literature, particularly in the context of parliamentary system of governance. Over the years significant changes have occurred in the relationship spanning a period of more than seven decades in postindependence India. It therefore, needed a peep which could address the key issues in such a relationship as it influences the quality of governance. The political and the permanent wings constitute the basic instrument of the government and administration and a positive relationship is required for a good administrative performance. The present book is the culmination of a national seminar on the said theme. It covers research based papers from eminent scholars in the field of public administration as well as young social scientists who have added new light to the discussion. It provides a wide ranging issues affecting public administration in India in the context of politician civil servant relationship. The book runs into around 250 pages. It is hoped the book will interest the students of public administration as well as the public policy makers.

Prof. S. N. Singh (b 1941) Presently Emeritus Professor in the Department of Public Administration, University of Lucknow is Secretary and Director of the Institute for Applied Research and Development, a non governmental Organisation based at Lucknow. From 198084 Prof S N Singh was with the LBS National Academy of Administration, Mussoori as Reader in Public Administration on Deputation. His Academic career covers a span of more than four decades in which he has to his credit 19 books already published on important themes of Social Relevance. He has more than 50 papers published in reputed Journals.Dr. S. S. Chauhan (b 1970) Presently Faculty member in the Department of Public Administration, Lucknow University is MPA,LL.B,PhD & D.Litt from Lucknow University . He has long academic career spanning over more than two decades, having more than 20 research papers & three books to his credit. Dr. Chauhan has completed two research projects sponsored by the ICSSR, Government of India. He is also associated with Institute for Applied Research and Development, a nongovernmental organization based at Lucknow. His active involvement with teaching, research and training has given him deep insight to handle the subjects of social relevance.Dr. K. K. Srivastava (b 1951) Presently Faculty member in the Department of Public Administration, Lucknow University is MA, PhD in Public Administration. Dr Srivastava is actively engaged in teaching and research having more than 30 research papers & four books to his credit.
