The book "Journalism in Jharkhand" attempts to present a historical narrative of journalism in the state. In doing so, it tries to answer several questions such as the status of journalism in the past, changes in techniques and writing styles, changes in the meaning of news, growth in readership, progress of research in journalism, and the rise of citizen journalism in the state.
The book is based on interviews with various stakeholders, ranging from pioneer senior editors who started newspapers in Jharkhand to the hawkers who have been selling newspapers for over 50 years. It aims to expand the knowledge base of young journalists and instill a sense of pride in them. Additionally, it intends to present the hitherto unexplored dimension of Jharkhand to the outside world.

Born and raised in Jharkhand, the author has been working in the field of communications for about 20 years, both in India and abroad. This includes, reporting for a Delhi-based television channel named BiTV, writing for national dailies, managing communications for the not-for profit organizations, and teaching at universities and colleges. He carries a mix of reputed institutional training and field-based experiences, from the small town of Hazaribag to the New York Times Square.
The author holds a Master's degree in Modern History from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and another from Missouri School of Journalism, USA, which is the oldest journalism institute worldwide. The author is also UGC NTA-NET qualified and holds a doctorate from Vinoba Bhave University, Jharkhand on the role of media in promoting tribal education.
