S.V. Ketkar was a sociologist, historian, novelist and thinker from Maharashtra. He was educated in Wilson College, Bombay and later left for the United States in 1906 to obtain his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1911. His work of compiling Marathi Encyclopaedia brought him a great fame.
