Unfortunately, most of the teachers do not know how to apply the educational and psychological principles they have learnt during their training. They enter the class, deliver the lecture, ask questions and come out after the scheduled time. Is this teaching or telling?

The present book, based on psychological findings and their impact on educational processes, is therefore designed to fulfil the needs of newly-trained teachers who have come out of the educational training institutions to enter the school classroom and face the pupils during the process of teaching.

L.N. Verma is a senior geographer, who served the University of Udaipur for nearly 25 years from 1964 to 1989. He has a rich experience of teaching at the Central Institute of Education, Delhi. He had his intensive training through workshops, seminars and refresher courses at NCERT, New Delhi.
