Integrated education programme for visually handicapped has been going on in the country for quite some time. Though, a few systematic studies have been conducted to demonstrate its significance from the point of view of visually handicapped pupils but there exists sufficient realization that the impact of the programme on its recipients (visually handicapped) must also be ascertained.
Against this background, the present work is likely to fulfil a long-standing need for a data-based study. Besides examining the situation of visually handicapped pupils, it throws light on the present state of education in the country. It also provides insightful information on a blind child and his problems. Finally, it offers dependable information on the relative efficiency of different approaches to educational programmes for the visually handicapped children.
