The book deals with political dimensions of development. It is the first book of its kind and, therefore, not surprising if we find the author experimenting hesitatingly with new dimensions here. Though the book is basically theoretical one in the field of development, it deals, by and large, with the Indian experiment. The author has deliberately not given any final verdict on the current experiment of the country in economic liberalization with the economic crisis attending it. He, however, wishes it all success.
