Geographical Information System (GIS) in Library and Information Services

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) has been extensively used in various traditional fields like land-use, environment science and natural resources management. Due to tremendous potential of GIS in handling geographic component of any information, its use is being explored in other non-traditional fields like business, banking, health and other utility services. Library, where information itself is its blood, associated with geographic component, cannot remain isolated from using GIS.
